The gag bit encourages the horse to lift its head. It is often used for horses that hide behind the bit. When the rider takes up the reins, the mouthpiece slides upward, creating pressure in the corners of the mouth and at the poll. The bit can be used with one or two reins, or with pelham straps. In most cases, the bit is used with two reins: one rein is attached normally to the bit, and the other rein to one of the lower rings or to the end of the gag straps. This allows the rider to use the gag action only when truly necessary. This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders.
The Inno Sense mullen is a straight bar that curves slightly forward. This mouthpiece is made of synthetic material. It contains a rigid core, which means the mullen bar is not flexible but still feels soft. The Inno Sense material contains no plasticizers and is therefore not harmful to the horse’s health.
The bits from TRUST Equestrian are authentically Dutch. All bits are designed, developed, and handmade in the Netherlands. Every day, a team of technical professionals works on production. The bits are assembled with the greatest care and made from the finest materials, resulting in very high quality standards. For every design, the balance between shape, material, and weight is continuously considered. TRUST bits are slightly curved so they better follow the natural shape of the horse’s mouth. Due to this anatomical design, the bit sits more comfortably in the mouth and pressure is more evenly distributed. With a wide range of mouthpieces, cheekpieces, and materials, TRUST strives to provide a suitable bit for every horse.
