The Pelham cheekpiece combines the action of a snaffle with that of a curb. The bit has a single cheekpiece but can be ridden with one or two reins. If riding with one rein, a Pelham strap is needed to connect the bit rings to the shank rings. The Pelham is a bit with leverage. The longer the shanks, the stronger the effect. The baby Pelham has short shanks and therefore provides a milder action than the regular Pelham. A Pelham bit is mainly used for strong horses, horses with limited space in the mouth for two mouthpieces, or horses being introduced to a double bridle. This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders.
This mouthpiece is a bar with a medium port. The port provides more tongue freedom by removing pressure from the centre of the tongue and distributing it over the bars. This makes the bit ideal for horses with a sensitive tongue or horses that tend to stick their tongue out. This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders.
Sweet Iron bits are made from steel and have a recognizable blue colour. When exposed to (air) moisture, Sweet Iron develops surface rust that tastes sweet and naturally stimulates saliva production. As a result, the horse will foam more, which improves bit acceptance. This oxidation process changes the blue colour of the TRUST bits into a brownish-grey hue.
The bits from TRUST Equestrian are authentically Dutch. All bits are designed, developed, and handmade in the Netherlands. A team of technical professionals works daily on production. The bits are crafted with great care and made from high-quality materials, ensuring very high standards. Each design takes balance between shape, material, and weight into account. TRUST bits are slightly curved to better follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. This anatomical form ensures a better fit and more even pressure distribution. With a wide selection of mouthpieces, cheekpieces, and materials, TRUST strives to offer a suitable bit for every horse.
